What are the common applications for surface mount bollards?

Surface mount bollards find frequent use in traffic management, property delineation, and enhancing safety in various environments.

How does the installation process of surface mount bollards compare to inground options?

Surface mount bollards offer a more straightforward installation by securing them directly onto surfaces, providing convenience and versatility.

Can bolt-down bollards be installed directly on asphalt?

No. Bolt-down bollards must not be anchored directly into asphalt. They require a suitable concrete slab, pad or foundation for proper anchoring.

Can surface mount bollards be easily adjusted or relocated if needed?

Yes, surface mount bollards are designed for easier adjustment or relocation compared to their inground counterparts, offering flexibility in security measures.

Where the surface mount bollard is used

  • Car park bays, aisles and pedestrian walkways
  • Warehouse aisles and racking end protection
  • Loading dock entrances and roller door edges
  • Shopfronts and footpath edges where core drilling is not possibl3

Will it stop a vehicle?

No. This is an access control bollard, not a security barrier. It is not crash rated and is not tested to PAS 68 or IWA 14. If you need hostile vehicle mitigation, call us.

Installation

Mark the four base plate holes, drill 12mm holes into the concrete with a masonry bit, then wedge anchors and torque to the anchor manufacturer’s specification. Allow one person about fifteen minutes per bollard on a sound slab.

8. Are yellow steel bollards crash-rated?

Not all models. Standard steel bollards should not be considered crash-rated unless the specific system has been engineered and tested to an applicable crash-rating standard.

9. Where are yellow steel bollards commonly installed?

They are commonly used at warehouses, loading docks, parking lots, commercial buildings, storefronts, schools and industrial facilities.

10. Do you offer contractor and volume pricing?

Yes. Bollard Canada offers contractor and volume pricing for commercial, industrial and municipal projects.
